Painting for a show is my favorite thing to do because it means complete freedom! It is pure joy, a little agony and a little fear. An empty room and blank paper and the desire to come up with something new and entertaining is always daunting, but once I dig in, I start to see faint images and hear their conversations. They are always talking about something I am deeply interested in. I enter a world that is all about enticing those messages from thin air onto my paper, and getting it right and true. This is when I am the happiest to be an artist.

"Ms Brewster creates finely detailed pencil drawings, watercolor and gouache paintings of animals, vegetables, insects and formerly inanimate objects such as pencils and teacups, all brought to life, baring their souls and revealing their dreams. Despite their subject matter, Ms. Brewster's works are neither cute nor cloying. Rather, they are both sophisticated and innocent, joyous and ingenious."
