Dinner for Herm, May 4th
Patience Brewster and Patience Brewster, Inc. sponsored a very special fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society on May 4.
The event, called “A Dinner for Herm,” raises money specifically for clinical trials that are developing a new immunotherapy protocol to treat systemic cancers such as lymphoma and Hodgkin’s Disease.
In 2005 Patience’s son, Holland C. “Herm” Gregg, IV, (pictured) lost his three-year battle with Stage 4 Hodgkin’s Disease at the age of 26. During his treatments, Patience, her husband, Holland Gregg, and daughter, Marietta Gregg discovered the clinical trials taking place at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. “The clinical trials in Houston are extremely exciting and hopeful,” said Brewster. “The success rate of this immunotherapy is as high, or higher, than today’s chemotherapy and radiation treatments without the punishing side effects.”
Catherine Bollard, M.D., the project director of the clinical trials attended the dinner and shared some of the life-saving success stories from the trials to date.
This was the third bi-annual Dinner for Herm and each event has sold out! More than a quarter of a million dollars has been raised by the Dinners for Herm since 2008!
